Whatmore eyeing 2012-type miracle to escape 'jaws of death' in final Test against Proteas

Pakistani coach Dav Whatmore has taken reassurances from his side's famous victory over England in last year's Test series after Pakistan was bowled out by South Africa for just 99 in the second Test.

A year ago, Pakistan went on to win the Test against England by 71 runs and complete a 3-0 whitewash against the then-No. 1 Test team in the world despite England dismissing Pakistan for an ironically similar 99 all out, although former Pakistani Test batsman Mohsin Khan coached the team at the time.

According to The Dawn, Whatmore recalled the victory, saying that it had crossed his mind a couple of times, adding that if they can take a number of South African wickets in a reasonable amount of time, then there is a possibility that they can win the match.

Pakistan's unpredictable batting lineup succumbed to legspinner Imran Tahir's career best 5-32 and the pace of Dale Steyn (3-38) within 2 hours 40 minutes, the report added.
