Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday stated that if his party gets re-elected in the upcoming legislative assembly polls in Delhi, it would reduce the value Added Tax (VAT) on all items within five years and do away with what he termed 'inspector raj'.
"When we come to power again, there will not be any inspector raj in Delhi for traders and we start an online system. The AAP will reduce the VAT on all items in five years," Kejriwal told the media here.
Speaking of the steps taken during the brief rule of his government, the AAP chief said, "During our 49 days of rule we had taken a lot of steps. First of all, we gave respect to traders. We ended bribery and inspector raj in Delhi. It was first time that they heaved a sigh of relief. We even started a simplification process of VAT."
He also announced that the trade cells of his party was being constituted in about 400 markets in the national capital and claimed that in the next 20 days, all the markets of Delhi will be covered.
"Today the trader cell of AAP has been formed. Subhash Khandelwal will be the president, and there will be many vice-presidents. In the next 15-20 days, such cells will be created in all markets of Delhi," he added.
The Union Cabinet recommended the dissolution of the Delhi Assembly after Lieutenant Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung's effort by calling political parties for government formation in Delhi bore no fruit.
President's rule was imposed in Delhi in February this year after the Kejriwal-led AAP government stepped down after 49 days of being in power.
