Former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, who has been convicted in the Junior Basic Teachers (JBT) recruitment scam case on Friday, said he would not be able to campaign for the Haryana Assembly elections if the court asked him to surrender.

"I will go to the high court. I will go at 2.15 as that is the time that the court has given me, but as there was no condition on my bail, it depends on court as to what decision they take. But if they ask me to surrender, how will I?" said Chautala on being questioned over his participation in the election campaign.

Chautala, who has been convicted in the Junior Basic Teachers recruitment scam case, was in September asked by the Delhi High Court to surrender on or before October 17 and was granted bail on medical grounds and for campaigning for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.

Yesterday, the Delhi High Court had directed Chautala to appear before after the CBI filed a plea for cancellation of his bail and immediate surrender for violating bail conditions.

The elections for the 90-member Haryana state assembly are scheduled to be held on October 15.
