Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah gave a fire-packed performance against Australia on Day Three of their ongoing third Test by scalping a six-wicket haul but the right-arm bowler is not surprised by his figures. He said that he has always been confident about his bowling and has worked hard on maintaining the consistency.
Asserting that he is not meant just for the limited-overs cricket, Bumrah said that he holds a lot of first-class experience and was always interested in playing Test cricket.
Speaking at a post-match press conference Bumrah said, "I always wanted to play Test cricket. People have only seen me playing white ball cricket but I played a lot of first-class cricket, earlier. I was always confident that whenever I get a chance, I will be able to do well. The start has been good for me. Hopefully, I will keep learning and keep getting better".
He added, "There is no new delivery that I have added into my armoury but yeah working on consistency has always been my main goal."
The pacer gave credit of his brilliant bowling figures to his first-class experience. "When we were bowling, the pitch was quite slow. Later, the ball started reversing. We had a lot of experience bowling reverse swing in Ranji Trophy so we applied that against Australia in their second innings".
When asked about plans for the Day Four of the ongoing Test, Bumrah replied: "We lost few more wickets than we wanted to. Next day, we will try to add more runs and hopefully, when we come in the next innings we will try to get them (Australia) out as well".
India have posted 54 runs at the loss of five wickets in their second innings to take a 364-run lead against Australia.
