Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has called CSKA Moscow fans' racist abuse during their Champions League clash unbelievable, stupid and very sad after he was targeted with monkey taunts by a section of the supporters.
According to the Mirror, Toure called on UEFA to close CSKA Moscow's Khimki Arena after the incident.
He said that he had told the referee and the UEFA had to do something to try and stop it, maybe close the stadium for a couple of games, adding that as an African player, it was sad and he was not just disappointed but furious.
Toure said that as a captain, he was wearing an armband, which said no to racism and he was totally disappointed.
Toure was twice targeted in the second half and City told the UEFA delegate straight after the game that they would be making an official complaint, the report said.
The abuse took some of the shine off the Blues' 2-1 win, which puts them firmly on course for qualification to the Champions League knock-out stag, the report added.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini said that it was a pity to see this kind of thing and that he hopes UEFA would take the right measures.
