Aam Aadmi Party leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan on Wednesday were removed from the party's key Political Affairs Committee (PAC).

The decision was taken by the AAP national executive, with plans of the PAC being reconstituted. According to reports, 8 members of the PAC voted in favour of Bhushan and Yadav, while 11 members voted against them.

After the meet, Bhushan and Yadav confirmed that they had been removed from the PAC.

"The AAP national executive has stated that Yogendra Yadav and I will no longer remain members of the PAC," Bhushan told the media.

"The national executive meet took certain decisions, which I am not authorised to divulge. Whatever the decision, as a disciplined party worker I shall fulfil the responsibilities given to me," Yadav added.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Kumar Vishwas said that the national executive had rejected Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's resignation as the party convener.

"The national executive decided that Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan be relieved of their responsibilities as PAC members and be given new responsibilities, which are yet to be decided. The national executive also rejected Arvind Kejriwal's resignation as the Aam Aadmi Party convener," he said.

Earlier in the day, senior advocate and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader H.S. Phoolka had charged Yadav and his accomplices with being hungry for power. He also described Yadav as a destabilising influence within the AAP.

AAP leaders Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan were reportedly asked to put forth their clarifications on statements that they have been making against the functioning of the party over the past couple of weeks.
