England domestic cricket club Yorkshire all-rounder Adil Rashid has said that changing his mindset and adopting the attacking approach has made the difference to his bowling.

Rashid, who made his international debut for England in August 2009 and played his last ODI against South Africa in November 2009, said that former Australian bowler Jason Gillespie has helped him a lot in regard of becoming a defensive leg-spinner instead of looking to take wickets.

Rashid said that Gillespie told him to just let the ball rip out of his hand and to not worry about going for runs. He added that there were a couple of years when he wasn't at his best and possibly didn't develop his game as much as he could have, Pak Passion reported.

The all-rounder said that he had a defensive mindset and was more worried about not conceding runs than taking wickets. He added that he was basically just going through the motions instead of looking to attack.

However, Rashid said that the last two seasons have seen his mindset change and he is now once again looking to be the attacking cricketer he always wanted to be. He added that the attacking approach has made the difference to his bowling.

Rashid further stated that former England batsman Martyn Moxon and Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale also deserve credit for helping him and have also just told him to concentrate on taking wickets and that being the priority instead of trying to stop the opposition from scoring.

Rashid, who has made only ten international appearances so far, also said that he learnt a lot from international cricket and is hopeful that more chances to play for England may come in future.
