Young teens craft 'smart' condoms that 'glows' if you have STD

A bunch of young teens have fashioned a unique "smart condom" that will glow a different colour if a person has STD.

Aiming towards a healthier, cleaner sexual environment, 13 and 14-year-old students Muaz Nawaz, Daanyaal Ali, and Chirag Shah, from London's Isaac Newton Academy, invented the condoms to "make detecting harmful STIs safer than ever before," without any need to get tested.

Ali, 14, said they wanted to help people take immediate action privately at their homes without the invasive procedures at the doctors, and wanted to ensure that people could be even more responsible, reported E! Online.

The creation named the S.T.EYE has a built-in indicator that changes to a different color depending on the bacteria or infection, and may glow green for chlamydia, yellow for herpes, purple for human papillomavirus, or blue for syphilis.

The invention also helped the students win health innovation prize at the city's TeenTech Awards, which included 1,000 pounds and a trip to Buckingham Palace.
