Indian tennis star Yuki Bhambri squandered three match points in the second set before losing to world number 51 Lukas Rosol in the opening round of the men's singles event of the Dubai Tennis Championships on Tuesday.

Bhambri was beaten 6-2, 6-7(2), 0-6 by the Czech in a contest that lasted one hour and 51 minutes at the Aviation Club Tennis centre.

The Indian wildcard got off to a thunderous start to easily clinch the opening set but failed to convert any of his three match points in the 12th game of the second set.

Subsequently, Bhambri lost his early steam as he lost six straight games in the decider to bow out of the ATP 500 event.
