Toyota is planning to showcase the next gen Corolla Altis at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. The company has already stalled the production of the vehicle, which clearly indicates that it did so to clear the existing lot of cars. The Japanese auto-giant is also keen on launching the vehicle by mid 2014, following its unveiling, scheduled at the Delhi Motor Show, 2014.
Toyota Corolla Altis remains the best selling vehicle for Toyota in the luxury car segment, amidst the industry rulers of the respective segment such as Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra. But as seen recently, Skoda launched the next generation of Octavia which is more plush and up-market as far as features are concerned. Hyundai also carried out some major altercations in the Elantra in order to make it more comfortable and convenient. So, now Toyota, taking a leaf out of both these automakers' book, is on a move to launch the facelift of Corolla by mid 2014 in an attempt to lure maximum customers and capture lion's share in luxury segment of vehicles in India.
The 2014 Corolla Altis looks vivacious, leaving behind Toyota's plain traditional designing. Large swept-back headlights in accordance with the audacious chrome grille and refreshed rear enables it to appear as enigmatic as ever. Mechanically, Toyota has made no changes to the car and decided to carry on with the same engine options in both petrol and diesel guises. The same 1.8-litre dual VVTi petrol engine and the 1.4-litre D4-D diesel engine would grace this exemplary sedan.
