Last month Ford debuts its global small car – 'KA' in Brazil, the 'Blue Oval' company has sold over 7000 units of the hatch in its maiden month, making it a success in Brazil. The car has been developed by Ford Brazil to be sold globally, like the EcoSport which was also developed there. After launching in Brazil, EcoSport entered India and it was a runaway success for Ford India. Moreover, the hatch is set to enter India next year and it will be our next-gen Figo. A compact sedan based on it will also follow along with it; similar to the concept which was showcased at Auto Expo this year.
The 2015 Figo comes with Ford's Kinetic 2.0 design philosophy, which was seen on the updated Fiesta. On the inside, the dash also borrows design cues and components with Fiesta. Speaking of which, central console seems to a be a straight lift from the same.
Both the cars feature, Ford's SYNC audio system with AppLink connectivity and Emergency Assistance. The system connects your smartphone with car and allows you to access few of your mobile Apps through voice controls. The Emergency Assistance calls the emergency services in an event of casualty.
Speaking of the engines, both the hatch and the compact sedan will be powered by a newly developed 1.0L TiVCT (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing) naturally aspirated 3-cylinder motor. The engine belts out a healthy 85bhp at 6500rpm and 105Nm of peak torque which comes at 4500rpm.
The KA-duo also comes with a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder petrol that powers our EcoSport. Speaking of the Indian centric powerplants, diesel is not available in Brazil, but expect Fiesta's 1.5L unit on these next-gen-Figo-duo along with the new 1.0L Ti-VCT petrol.
