2016 Jaguar XJ unveiled, gets new flagship Autobiography version

Jaguar has taken the wraps off the 2016 XJ saloon. The luxo-barge from Jaguar is now available in the range-topping Autobiography spec. The Autobiography spec XJ will be available only in the LWB (long-wheelbase) avatar. 

“Featuring our new world-class infotainment system, interior materials and finishes which create an even more bespoke feel, and with our higher output, lower emissions diesel engine, the XJ rewards drivers and passengers like no other luxury car."  said Ian Hoban, Vehicle Line Director for the Jaguar XJ.

The XJ retains it’s aggressive looks, with subtle tweaks made to both - the exterior as well as the interior to kick things up a notch. The Jaguar gets all-LED headlamps with twin ‘J-Blade’ DRLs and LED tail-lamps. The front bumper now features a larger air-intake and the grille has been redesigned as well. The XJ gains an R-Sport model with new side sills, three-piece front splitter, side power vents and a rear spoiler.  The interior houses sports seats, R-Sport steering wheel and treadplates, Jet headliner and piano black trim or carbon fibre.

On the inside, the XJ now features an 8 inch infotainment screen coupled with a 26 Speaker, 1300W sound system developed in conjunction with Meridian.  Rear seat entertainment is taken care of by two 10.2-inch high-definition screens which fold away when not in use.100GB of user media storage is provided. The rear seat entertainment system can connect to various devices using two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI and one MHL port, enabling charging and media output.

The new XJ also gets All-Surface Progress Control (ASPC) technology, as seen on the XE and XF sedans. ASPC is a unique system which can make it easier and safer to drive a powerful rear-wheel drive car at low speeds on slippery surfaces such as snow, ice and wet grass.

The new XJ can be expected to hit Indian shores soon. It could be offered with a 3.0 litre diesel V6 and a 5.0 litre petrol V8 mated to a 8-speed automatic gearbox.
