2016 Toyota Innova: All you Need to Know

The second generation Toyota Innova has been officially launched in Indonesia. The launch has also marked the global debut of the highly revered Toyota MPV. The car has been launched with a price tag of IDR 282 million, which translates into Rs. 13.60 Lacs, approximately. This price is exclusive to the base petrol variant, which in all probability will not be making its way to India. The prices for the India-bound base diesel variants start at IDR 310.1 million i.e. Rs. 14.95 Lacs. The second generation Toyota Innova will be launched in India at the Auto Expo, which will be held in February 2016. However, details of the India-bound Indonesian variant have been released online, so let's have a look at all you need to know about the all-new Toyota Innova 2016.

Exteriors

The Indonesian variant of the car is available in 6 color schemes, which includes Alumina Jade, Attitude Black, Avant Grande Bronze, Dark Gray Mica Metallic, Silver Metallic and Super White. Aesthetic updates are inclusive of new LED projector headlamps at the front, a large hexagonal air-dam, which features a dual-slat chrome grille, smart close tailgate, 16 and 17 inch optional alloy wheels.

Interiors

The interiors receive a complete overhaul and flaunt a much more premium feel, courtesy of illumination lamps and wooden finish, which also trickles down the dashboard and onto the tilt-able steering wheel (This might be an optional trim). In terms of instruments, the new Innova comes with a new 8 inch advance touchscreen infotainment system that features Air Gesture, Web browser, Miracast, Toyota Move, Voice Command, Digital Living Network Alliance and HDMI, Bluetooth & Smartphone connectivity. The car also features automatic climate control, all automatic power windows,  TFT type MID, which is reminiscent of that found in the premium Camry sedans.

Grunt

Under the hood, the all-new Innova will come with a 2.4-liter, 2 GD FTV 4 Cylinder In-Line, 16 valve DOHC engine with VNT Intercooler. The power plant will produce 149 PS @ 3400 rpm and 342 Nm in-between 1,200-2,800 rpm. The engine will come mated to either a standard 5-speed manual or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The powerplant can be accessed in three formats viz. Eco, Normal and Power mode and this drive selector will be available across all variants of the MPV.

Safety

The new Innova features ABS with EBD as standard across all variants. The car also comes with Smart-key entry, Isofix with tether anchor for child-seat, hill assist control and vehicle stability control. In context of airbags, the 2016 Innova features curtain, side, knee and dual-front airbags, which make the cabin of the new Innova, a very safe place to be in.
