Nissan India has recalled 22,188 units of its flagship vehicles Micra and Sunny produced at the company's Chennai plant to replace the faulty master brake cylinder. The replacement of the faulty component will be done free of charge, and the company has informed its dealers across India on the same. Nissan has recalled a total of 67,089 units of both the vehicles in Africa, Asia and Europe for the same reason.

Commenting on the same, the company has issued a statement, which reads as, "Nissan plans to begin notifying individual customers in May. Nissan dealers will replace the master brake cylinder at no cost to the customer. Nissan is committed to a high level of customer safety, service and satisfaction and is working with its dealers to promptly address this issue."

Nissan India further said that due to the faulty master brake cylinder, no accidents or injuries have been reported so far, and the company is doing it voluntarily to maintain high level of customer safety and service. Nissan has recalled nearly 2.5 lakh units globally, however said that the recall is not part of the India exercise and is related to the fuel rail pressure sensor used in direct injection engines in some models.
