Czech automobile maker Skoda Auto that unveiled the all new Octavia in India earlier this month is now all set to launch the vehicle on October 3rd. Prices of the vehicle are still not revealed, though the specifications are already out as the vehicle has been officially unveiled and media drive were also conducted recently. Skoda Auto India that replaced the Octavia with the Laura in 2010, will sell both the vehicles alongside.
The all new Skoda Octavia has been built on Volkswagen's famous MQB platform, on which VW Golf and Audi A3 are based. The new platform helped the 2013 Skoda Octavia to get 90mm longer and 45mm wider than the Laura, which has made the new model more spacious and comfortable than ever. The new Octavia will also wear the new Skoda Logo, which will be seen on all the upcoming Skoda models.
The new Octavia will be offered with a 1.8-litre TSI petrol mill and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel powertrain. The car might also be offered with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol mill, which also powers the VW Jetta. And this 1.4-litre TSI engine power version will be the base variant in the line-up. In terms of design, the 2013 Octavia is a more up-market product with improved plastic quality, better fit and finish, better designed dashboard and many more.
When it comes to safety features, the all new Octavia is one of the safest cars available in the country having features like ABS, Lane Assistance, Fatigue detection system, Adaptive Cruise control, nine airbags, intelligent light assistant and Traffic sign recognition. The new Octavia will also be the first ever Skoda car t get daytime running LEDs.
