Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato To Enter Production

Jaw-dropping concept cars often get us excited and upset at the same time, simply because so many manufacturers show us amazing designs, but never make them. Well, Aston Martin showed us the Vanquish Zagato concept last month and while many believed it would be nothing more than a show car, this concept will enter production!

The Vanquish Zagato concept was first seen through official images released on the internet, with the in-the-metal debut taking place at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este, in Italy. This visual treat is the fifth car to emerge from a collaboration between Aston Martin and Italian design-house Zagato that stretches back over five decades. Other models born out of this partnership include the 1960 DB4 GT Zagato race car, 1986 V8 Vantage Zagato, 2002 DB7 Vantage Zagato and 2011 V12 Vantage Zagato.

The production car will be a limited edition model and only 99 units will be built to order at Aston Martin's production facility in Gaydon, England. Powering this beauty is a brutish 6.0-litre, V12 powerplant that generates 600PS of power. This engine is said to be capable of driving the coupe from 0 to 100kmph in less than 4 seconds.

The car’s bodywork is built from lightweight carbon-fibre. Design elements include round tail lights that use the same ‘bladed’ LED technology as the Aston Martin Vulcan while the wing mirrors are closely related to the units developed for the One-77. The car also sports a retractable spoiler, quad-exhaust tips and the ‘double-bubble’ roof design, a Zagato trademark since the early 1950s, which was originally designed to accommodate racing helmets.

All 99 units of this special edition dream machine have already found owners, and while no official price has been disclosed, customer deliveries will begin in the first quarter of 2017.
