Direct from the stands of Audi, the recently launched Audi RS7 has been put on display too at the ongoing Auto Expo'14. The new RS7 sportback shares the stage with A3, SQ5 and other Audi models. The company had launched the performance oriented RS7 back in January'14, which has been receiving an overwhelming response from the market. This is basically a performance derivative model of the existing A7 luxury car of Audi. The vehicle has arrived in India at the price of Rs. 1.29 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The performance edition RS7 gets a powerful 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 powertrian which bounds potential to deliver massive power output of 560bhp at 6700rpm and top torque of 700Nm at 1750rpm. The engine is combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission which offers brisk pace and simultaneously, functions to offer performance without affecting the fuel economy of the car. The same engine is also found doing duties to the S6 model of Audi.
The agility of the sportscar is well defined with its quick time of just 3.9 seconds to cross the 100kmph. The Quattro four-wheel-drive system helps accelerate the vehicle more fast thereby contributes maximum to its overall performance. The top speed of 250kmph is reached with the all-new RS7 sportsback. There are certain modifications made on its exteriors to make it distinguishable from the regular A7 sportsback. As far as competition is concerned, the new RS7 is put against the likes of BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG in India. The highlight of this model is the cylinder functionality which allows to power off the four cylinders when is under less load thereby contributing more to the fuel efficiency.
