BMW India Rolls Out 40,000th Locally Manufactured Car

BMW India rolled out its 40,000th locally produced car in the country from their manufacturing facility located at Mahindra World City business zone near Chennai, Tamilnadu. The 40,000th car was a white colored BMW 5-Series;

Talking about the locally manufactured vehicles, BMW India produces 1 Series hatchback; sedans 3, 5 and 7 Series along with the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo; SUVs X1, X3 and X5. Adding in this context, the ‘Big German Three’ - Merc, Audi and BMW have started producing majority of their models locally to position them appropriately and to save import duties. Models are imported via CKD (completely knocked down units) route and are locally manufactured.

Moreover, BMW India is also launching two new performance machines on 26th November  - M3 sedan and M4 coupe. Both the German machines gets a 3.0 liter twin turbo in-line six-cylinder motor that chucks out 431hp of max power and a brute 550Nm of torque pouring in between 1,850-5,500 rpm. 

And from the Mini stable - BMW is all set to debut the new Mini range in India on 19th of November. The new 3-door hatch will replace the ongoing Cooper 3-door model while 5-door Mini which was debuted first time in the history of the company is also coming to our shores!
