Fiat will make global debut of Avventura crossover tomorrow and India is the first country to get Punto EVO based crossover. Prices are expected to be in the vicinity of Ford EcoSport – its major competitor; Avventura also competes with faux mutated crosses like, VW Cross Polo and Toyota Etios Cross. Though it competes with these two but both these cars lack versatility which Avventura offers; so it leads EcoSport as its arch rival. Fiat has already started the bookings of the crossover sometime back, deliveries are expected to begin from tomorrow.
Though it is based on Punto EVO, but Avventura holds it own road presence – courtesy to the rear hanging spare wheel and all the body claddings & faux bash guards. Moreover, it is also coming in new shades – Orange and Brown, compared to EVO. Uniqueness prevails inside too, Avventura gets tan brown leather-fabric upholstery, segment-first high terrain gauges, etc.
Fiat Avventura is powered by 90Hp 1.3 liter MJD diesel and 1.4 liter FIRE petrol, both the engines are mated to 5-speed manual transmission. Starting with 1.3-liter MJD, which will hold majority of the sales, its the same EVO borrowed 1.3L 90bhp Multi-Jet diesel churning out 91.7bhp of max power @ 4000rpm and 209Nm of peak torque @ 2000rpm. The 1.4 liter FIRE petrol belts out max power of 88.8bhp at 6000rpm and 115Nm of peak torque pouring in at 4500rpm. The diesel delivers certified fuel economy of 20.5km/l while petrol is slightly low at 14.4km/l.
