Ford has registered for EcoBeast name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office under Automobiles and automobile engines category. Though no other details are available for now, we expect the EcoBeast to be a part of Ford’s famous EcoBoost engine family. The EcoBoost is already available in various iterations ranging from 1.0-litre three cylinder engine to 3.5-litre V6 engine. Now, it is highly like that the EcoBeast could be a go-bonkers V8 version for the upcoming new F150 Raptor, as the last 6.2-litre V8 was discontinued.
There are speculations that the EcoBeast could also be a twin turbo V6 powering the next gen SVT Raptor. The EcoBoost engine series have already received great response and have found their way into several Ford vehicles including Fusion, Fiesta, Taurus, Focus ST and more. These speculations could be answered at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, where the new Raptor is expected to be unveiled. Watch this space for more information.
