In the month of February, Toyota Kirloskar Motor retailed a total of 11,802 units as compared to 10,100 units in the same month last year. In terms of exports, the company shipped 1,478 units of Etios series. With this, the automaker witnessed a growth of 17 per cent in last month. The performance was even better than the month of January in which the automaker registered growth of 16 per cent.
Mr. N Raja, Director and Senior Vice - President, Sales and Marketing said "The growth wave continues this month as well, with TKM registering 17% growth.
Commenting on the budget he added "It is a positive budget that caters to individuals as well as corporates. We are happy with the reduction of custom duty on raw materials/components. However, we were hoping to receive a reduction in the excise duty as well which would have further facilitated the industry to get back on the trajectory path. As a part of the budget the Govt will allocate funds for the development of greener electric cars, we will study this in detail to understand its implication on developing alternative fuel vehicles and promoting hybrid as a technology in India".
Recently, Toyota’s C segment car Vios was spied on the roads of Bangalore. And since the company is testing its new cars, the automaker might launch them in upcoming months. Toyota Vios if launched in India will fill the deep gap between Etios and Corolla Altis. Since Vios will find its way in C segment, it will thus competes with the likes of segment leader Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
