Hyundai showcased their upcoming crossover the Creta. Speaking at the showcase of CRETA, Mr. BS Seo, Managing Director & CEO, HMIL said, “The CRETA is the most awaited and aspirational SUV of the year and would be a revolutionary product in the Hyundai portfolio. The global SUV CRETA will herald a new chapter in Hyundai Motor India’s success story and will set a new benchmark in the SUV segment of India with unmatched capabilities. With Hyundai’s strong vision for India, we will strengthen our commitment to the Indian market with the launch of CRETA.”
The Creta follows Hyundai's much appreciated Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 philosophy. The front of the Creta features a prominent chrome grille with aggressive sweptback projector headlamps with daytime running lights. The lower half of the bumper also features a faux skidplate for that beefy SUV look. The side remains typically Hyundai as ever, with a sloping roof line, high shoulder line, roof rails and 17 inch diamond cut wheels to cement its SUV stance. The rear is completed with a chrome garnish on the boot and massive wraparound taillamp that flow into the shoulder line beautifully. The Hyundai Creta features Hyundai's ' 'Hive Structure' something that not only makes the vehicle safer and more enduring to crashes, but also contributes to lowering the overall NVH.
On the inside, the Hyundai gets a 7 inch touchscreen audio video navigation (AVN) unit. The usual Hyundai fare such as rear AC, push button start and steering mounted controls are present on the Creta as well. The Hyundai comes loaded to the gills with Safety tech as well, the top spec will get dual airbags along with side and curtain airbags along with ABS and ESC.
The Hyundai can be had with three engine options; a 1.6 litre Dual VTVT petrol, a 1.4 litre U2 CRDi diesel and a 1.6 litre U2 CRDi diesel. The engines have been proven to be potent performers in the Hyundai Verna. The top spec 1.6 diesel gets an automatic variant as well, something that was missing in the segment. While the 1.6 petrol produces 123 PS of power, the 1.6 diesel pushes out 128PS.
The Creta is all set to take on the likes of the Duster, Ecosport and the Nissan Terrano. Prices shall be officially revealed soon
