Hyundai Motor India Ltd sold a total of 35,248 units in India and has exported 14,974 units bringing the cumulative sales to 50,222 units for the month of April 2014. While the domestic sales is up by 8.8% when compared to April 2013’s 32,403 units, however, the exports took a dip of 39% with 24,550 units exported in April 2013. The cumulative sales of Hyundai, thus, went down by 11.8% on comparison with April 2013’s 56,953 units.
Commenting on the April sales, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. VP- Sales and Marketing, HMIL said, “Hyundai with a volume of 35,248 units has grown by 8.8% over last year which is in line with this year’s objective of growth in volume and market share. Growth is led by sedan and utility vehicles across geographies, with new products Xcent, Grand and Santa Fe, adding volumes with an overwhelming response from customers. We foresee to maintain this positive momentum in this year by strengthening product portfolio and improving channel efficiencies.”
Majority of carmakers in India have reported decreased sales in April with only a few like Hyundai and Honda posting growth in domestic sales. And to keep the momentum on the top side, Hyundai is offering Various Offers. In the month of April, Hyundai offered various deals across all its products with Santro, i10 and i20 coming with savings up to Rs.24,000, Rs.35,000 and Rs.32,000 respectively. Verna and Sonata came with savings up to Rs.48,000 and Rs.55,000 respectively, while Sonata was up to Rs.1,39,000 lesser and SantaFe up to Rs.1,45,000. These deals were offered only for MY’13 variants in the month of April, but some dealers may still continue with the discounts.
Hyundai is also planning to launch the Eon With A 1.0-Litre Engine with 3 cylinders and is expected to be launched in just one variant. The company has not confirmed about the date of the new Eon’s launch but we are expecting it to be this month. The New Hyundai Sonata that made its premiere at the 2014 New York Auto Show is also expected to be launched in India in early 2015. The new Sonata comes with refreshed design upgrades in the form Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 that includes energetic and crisp lines, LED daytime running lights, new 16-inch alloy wheels, rear lip spoiler, chrome tipped exhausts etc. The current powertrains will continue to power the new Sonata but have been re-tuned for better low-range response and to reduce emissions.
