Ever since its inception in India with the Santro, Hyundai has been largely successful in pleasing the customers. As a result, Hyundai has reached a new milestone with 4 Million vehicles sold in the Indian market. This 19 year long journey of the Korean automaker has seen many ups and downs but with their latest offering, Creta, registering a whopping 70,000 bookings in the Indian market, their journey has been more of a success. Not only in the SUV segment, Hyundai has been the leaders in the premium hatchback segment too with their Elite i20 which recently sold over 1,50,000 units domestically. The hatchback was introduced in the country in March 2014 and has won numerous awards like Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) 2015. Hyundai claims that Elite i20 now commands 66% market share in the premium hatchback segment.
Verna, which once ruled the segment was appreciated by everyone for its Fluidic design philosophy and the same design theme was later adopted by its big brother, Elantra. Commenting on the 4 million domestic sales milestone, Mr. YK Koo, MD, HMIL said, “Hyundai today is a 10 product strong brand with class leading products from the Eon to Santa Fe. Hyundai has since inception focussed on make in India products, made for the world. Hyundai the largest exporter and the largest premium car manufacturer in India catering to the growing needs and demands of the aspirational Indian customer. Hyundai has witnessed success as the fastest growing sales milestone and we assure our commitment to the Indian car market.”
