Hyundai Creta is based on a new ‘Hive’ structure that denotes high structural strength, stability and sturdiness

Hyundai India is exporting the new Creta to various markets across the world, after the compact crossover-SUV made its world premiere in the country earlier this year. Now, the made in India Hyundai Creta has scored 4 out of 5 stars in the Latin NCAP (New Car Assessment Program). The tested model was equipped with dual-front airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, seatbelt reminder, ABS (Anti-locking Braking System) and ISOFIX. Though, the side impact tests were not performed by the agency, but based on the results, bodyshell integrity of Hyundai Creta was declared stable. The model scored 15.57 out of 17.00 in adult occupant protection and 29.87out of 49.00- in child occupant protection.

Hyundai describes Creta’s ‘Hive’ structure as:

  • High body rigidity with ring structure design for enhanced structural integrity, durability, ride & handling
  • Advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) & ultra high strength steel (UHSS) for increased body endurance, corrosion durability and lighter kerb weight
  • Reinforced roof structure with multiple cross members for enhanced strength
  • An improved crash performance with the addition of dash cross-members.

The agency commented, “In the frontal impact the driver and passenger's heads were both well protected by the driver and passenger airbags. Both seatbelts were equipped with pretensioners and load limiters. The driver and passenger chests received adequate protection. The passengers’ knees areas did not show high-risk structures. The bodyshell was rated as stable and was capable of withstanding further loading”
