With the increasing competition in the hatchback and compact sedan segment, carmakers are ready to launch several new products and facelifts of their existing models in the country. India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has started feeling the heat and is now aiming to launch the facelift versions of the Swift and Swift Dzire in the country in 2014. If reports are to be believed, both the facelifts will be unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

The competition level in the compact sedan segment is going to be stiffer, as Hyundai has announced that it will launch a compact sedan based on Grand i10 hatchback on February 4, 2014. Honda has already launched the Amaze, which has been doing an excellent business for the company. By seeing this Maruti decided to revamp its Swift Dzire, which is currently rulling the segment. Moreover, Tata Motors will also showcase a new compact sedan at the 2014 Auto Show.

Maruti Suzuki has already launched the Swift facelift with minor updates in the International Markets like Japan and Europe in July this year. The updated hatch will see LED daytime running lights mounted into the fog lamp, redesigned front bumper, and the LED treatment continuous to the roof mounted stop lamp at the rear. It is also speculated that the 2014 Swift will feature the 16-inch alloy wheels for top variants. A new Boost Blue Pearl metallic color will also be offered in the lineup.

The interiors of the car is expected to remain unchanged, however the new Swift will feature a new upholstery for the seats. The vehicle could also get an Auto-Up one touch function to the driver's side power window, automatic headlamps, electronically adjustable side mirrors and others. Mechanically, the 2014 Swift will retain the same engine configuration- a 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre Multi-Jet engine.

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki will launch a new mid-sized sedan (SX4 replacement), a new compact hatch (A-Star replacement) and a compact SUV (XA-Alpha) in 2014. So, stay tuned to CarDekho for more updates on the same.
