Just ahead of its slated debut at the upcoming 2016 New York motor show, German automaker Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the production-spec Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC43 SUV. An variant of this car was recently showcased at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo, which culminated last month. Mercedes-Benz describes the GLC43 as a particularly dynamic addition to its GLC line-up of SUVs.

Looks wise, what distinguishes the GLC43 from the standard models is its redesigned, sporty-looking front fascia that incorporates a diamond radiator grille, and a chrome front splitter. The GLC43 rides on 20-inch AMG lightweight alloys and the performance-oriented sporty design approach also carries on to the rear of this SUV, where this car incorporates a four-tailpipe sports exhaust unit.

Mercedes has confirmed that this SUV will incorporate a 3-litre bi-turbo V6 engine, which will be capable of producing 362 bhp of power output and around 520 Nm of peak torque, which means that there will be plenty of grunt for customers to dispense off. The closest rivals that Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC43 can take on in India (if offered in a diesel variant with minor variations in the power figures) will be the BMW X3 XDrive320d M Sport and the Audi Q5 45, which produce 258 bhp and 241 bhp of power, respectively.

The superior power figures might justify the AMG GLC43’s premium price tag, which is expected to fall somewhere in the ballpark of Rs. 70 lacs. Mercedes has also announced that it will offer GLC43 with its 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, which will come coupled with the AMG’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. This implies that not only will the GLC43 be able to take on minor off-road escapades, but it will also be able to put this power down on track with an acceleration figure of 0 to 100 kmph in under 4.8 seconds. The top speed of this SUV has been electronically limited to 250 kmph.
