Mitsubishi has announced that its next-generation global compact sedan, to be named Attrage, will be launched in the Thailand this July. The Attrage compact sedan qualifies for the Thai government's Eco-car Project and will be developed at the company's third factory at the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate in Chonburi province in Thailand. To qualify the Thai government Eco-car project, a car needs to have a fuel efficiency based on European calculation methods of at least 5L/100km (20km/l), and meet the EURO4 exhaust gas regulations, and the company mandated to develop over 100,000 units per year after the fifth year of production.
The compact sedan, Attrage features a short nose, which gives an outstanding forward field of view, and has a class-leading minimum turning radius of 4.8 meters. The Attrage is expected to deliver a fuel economy of 22 km/liter, making it one of the most fuel efficient cars in its segment. The fuel efficiency is achieved with a combination of uncompromising weight reduction throughout and a use lightweight RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body, which is developed with the extensive use of high tensile steel.
Attrage comes powered by the 1.2-litre 3A92 three-cylinder MIVEC unit, that churns out 77bhp at 6,000rpm and 100Nm of top torque at 4,000rpm. Two transmission options will be available for its buyers - CVT or a five-speed manual transmission as a standard. The Attrage delivers driving pleasure thanks to agility and pleasing driving dynamics stemming from its lighter weight as well as its reassuring handling, stability and comfortable ride. Passenger comfort is enhanced by the high hip point and large door openings which facilitate entry and exit as well as by its generous rear seat leg space.
