Nissan India witnessed a growth of 138 per cent in the month of July by retailing 2,013 vehicle. Last year for the same period, the automaker sold 1,226 units. In the first seven months, the manufacturer retailed 17,597 units as compared to 7,494 units in 2013. The FY sales also witnessed a growth of 135 per cent.
For Nissan, the majority of sales came from Micra hatch and Terrano SUV, while the recently launched Sunny facelift also played a major role in boosting the sales of the company. With Sunny facelift in the model lineup, the carmaker looks optimistic for the near future.
Nissan Sunny was launched in the first week of July with an introductory price of 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The upgraded facelift embraces several cosmetic changes while the engine specification remains the same. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is offered with both manual and CVT transmission while the 1.5-litre diesel mill comes with a manual transmission. The ARAI certified fuel economy of diesel model is 22.7kmpl.
The interior features in-dash music system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, while the top spec model carries a 5.1-inch infotainment system with reverse parking camera as an extra. The centre console now has a piano black finish like the one in Micra. Nissan Sunny also gets Luxury and Safety packs. The Luxury package offers leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel while the safety pack gets two extra side airbags.
Nissan is also planning to bring the Qashqai and the X-Trail. Both the vehicles are based on the same platform but the some difference in pricing. Our sources confirm that Nissan is looking at getting the Qashqai to India. There is no doubt in this that Nissan will also get the X-Trail for more parts sharing and cost reduction.
