Ford India’s anticipated entrant in the compact sedan arena - Ford Figo Aspire will be launching around mid May, according to the sources. Expect the bookings for the same to begin by May starting. The compact sedan which will be competing with Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Tata Zest, Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze was revealed on 26th March at the inauguration of Ford’s second plant in Sanand, Gujarat.
Ford’s existence in India is now nearly over two decades and in this period at various point of time, American manufacturer has been solely dependent on a single product, currently its the EcoSport. With plenty of launches lined for this year, seems like things are about to turn around for Ford’s Indian subsidiary. Speaking of the new Figo Aspire sedan - its coming with several segment first features - smartphone integrating Ford’s SYNC voice activated infotainment system along with safety features like 6-airbags and Ford’s Emergency Assistance.

Mechanically, both the engines will be brand new to the Figo nameplate, Ford has already confirmed Fiesta/EcoSport’s 1.5-liter TDCI DV5 turbo diesel and a new 1.2-liter Ti-VCT; earlier it was expected that the diesel engine will be slightly detuned, but now reportedly the power figures will be similar to that of Fiesta/EcoSport or maybe slightly higher! The automaker also promises that both the engines will be excellenct in terms of efficiency and performance. Moreover, according to few reports, it is also getting a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with the 1.5-liter Ti-VCT motor. Dual Clutch transmission is first in the segment while in segment above also, only VW Vento and Skoda Rapid offers.
