Post its launch in the Japanese market, Suzuki has released a video detailing the features and specification of its Ignis mirco-SUV. The micro-SUV will probably be launched in India and will rival the likes of the recently launched Mahindra KUV100. The video provides a closer glimpse at the design and ride characteristics of the sub- 4 meter crossover SUV.
The Japanese-spec Ignis features a wheelbase that is 2,435mm long and manages to offer a ground clearance of 180mm.
The Japanese-spec Ignis features a 180mm of ground clearance and a wheelbase which stands at 2,435mm. In terms of the off-road capabilities, Ignis will overshadow the Indian automaker’s offering, courtesy of its superior ground clearance.
Inside the cabin, Ignis is also expected to be roomier as compared to Mahindra’s KUV100, as it will probably incorporate the same seats that are offered in the Swift hatchback and features a longer wheelbase, which stands at 3700mm, as compared to the relatively inferior 3,675mm of Mahindra KUV100.
Under the hood, this mirco-SUV will probably incorporate Fiat’s 1.3l MultiJet diesel, which produces 75PS of power output and 190Nm of peak torque, which might be a tad inferior in comparison to that seen in the KUV100 but it is expected that Ignis will make up for this short coming with impressive weight reduction. The petrol mill duties will be undertaken by the 1.2l VTVT petrol powerplant, which again outshine the power output of KUV100 petrol variant. However, one must keep it in consideration that KUV100 is a 6-seater and uses the practicality offered by its extra seat to its competitive advantage.
