156 Lakh Tonne Rice procured during ongoing kharif marketing season

Over 156 lakh tonne rice has been procured by the Government agencies during Kharif Marketing Season, 2013-14. As per data made available to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, a total of 156,99,858 tonne rice has been procured till November 20, 2013 during on-going season.

Highest procurement has been made in Punjab i.e. 119,16,499 tonne followed by Haryana (35,58,022 tonne) and Tamil Nadu (75,152 tonne). Uttar Pradesh has also made significant procurement i.e. 65,519 tonne.
