Nifty September futures trade at premium to spot price
The September 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,629.85, at a premium of 57.30 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8,572.55 in the cash market. The Nifty October 2016 futures traded at 8,671.10, at a premium of 98.55 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment fell to Rs 2.23 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 7.43 lakh crore registered yesterday, 25 August 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty lost 19.65 points or 0.23% to settle at 8,572.55, its lowest closing level since 4 August 2016.
Tata Motors, Biocon, Century Textiles Industries, Reliance Capital and State Bank of India (SBI) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Tata Motors September 2016 futures traded at 518.60, at a premium compared with spot closing of 514.25. Biocon September 2016 futures traded at 898.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 891.80. Century Textiles Industries September 2016 futures traded at 714, at a premium compared with spot closing of 710.
Reliance Capital September 2016 futures traded at 496, at a discount compared with spot closing of 503.10. SBI September 2016 futures traded at 248.50, at a premium compared with spot closing of 246.35.
The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016. The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016.
