Domestic air passengers rises 15.3% in December 2014

Passengers carried by domestic airlines during Jan-Dec 2014 were 673.83 lakh as against 614.26 lakh during the corresponding period of the previous year, thereby registering a growth of 9.7%.

The domestic passengers carried by Air India were 124.25 lakh while the private carriers carried 549.58 passengers. The market share of Air India remained at 18.4% while for the private airlines it was 81.6%. Carrier wise passenger traffic stood at Jet Airways - 117.43 lakh, JetLite- 29.22 lakh, Spicejet- 117.49 lakh, GoAir- 62.02 lakh, IndiGo- 214.25 lakh, AirCosta- 5.88 lakh, and Air Asia- 3.28 lakh in Jan-Dec 2014.

Passenger traffic of domestic airlines surged 15.3% to 64.4 lakh in December 2014 over December 2013. Carrier wise passenger traffic stood at Air India- 11.99 lakh, Jet Airways -12.05 lakh, JetLite- 2.95 lakh, Spicejet- 6.71 lakh, GoAir- 6.01 lakh, IndiGo- 23.24 lakh, AirCosta- 0.71 lakh, and Air Asia- 0.74 lakh in Dec 2014.
