Education stocks rally

Shares of seven companies engaged in education software and vocational training institutes rose 0.86% to 20% at 14:19 IST on BSE on hopes that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Skill India' initiative may change the fortune of these companies.

Educomp Solutions (up 17.98%), Jetking Infotrain (up 10.4%), Aptech (up 4.53%), NIIT (up 5.38%), Navneet Education (up 0.96%) and Career Point (up 0.86%) edged higher.

Shares of Everonn Education were locked at 20% upper circuit at Rs 30.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 248.75 points or 0.89% at 28,181.65.

According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious Skill India mission, which will be launched today, 15 July 2015, is expected to be a mass campaign involving the youth to encourage them to take up skilling and vocational training to improve their employability. Skill India is part of the series of initiatives taken up by Modi on a mission mode.
