Nifty September futures trade at premium over spot price
The September 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8746.50, at a modest premium of 30.90 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8715.60 in the cash market. The Nifty October 2016 futures traded at 8786, a premium of 70.40 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 3.88 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.37 lakh crore registered on Friday, 9 September 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty lost 151.10 points or 1.7% to settle at 8,715.60, its lowest closing level since 29 August 2016.
Yes Bank, Vedanta, State Bank of India, Reliance Industries, and Hindalco Industries were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Yes Bank September 2016 futures traded at 1205.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1199.50. Vedanta September 2016 futures traded at 163.50, near spot closing of 163. State Bank of India September 2016 futures traded at 254.65, near spot closing of 253.65.
Reliance Industries September 2016 futures traded at 1047.45, near spot closing of 1046.95. Hindalco Industries September 2016 futures traded at 141.50, near spot closing of 141.20.
The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016. The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016.
