FIIs step up buying

Net inflow of Rs 841.30 crore on 23 April 2014

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 841.30 crore on Wednesday, 23 April 2014, higher than net inflow of Rs 187 crore on Tuesday, 22 April 2014. The stock market was closed on Thursday, 24 April 2014, on account of Parliamentary elections in Mumbai constituency.

The net inflow of Rs 841.30 crore on Wednesday, 23 April 2014, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5610.90 crore and gross sales of Rs 4769.60 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 845.40 crore into the secondary equity market on Wednesday, 23 April 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 5610.90 crore and gross sales of Rs 4765.50 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had garnered 118.17 points or 0.52% to settle at 22,876.54 on that day, a record closing high for the index.

There was an outflow of Rs 4.10 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on Wednesday, 23 April 2014.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 8442.30 crore in April 2014 so far (till 23 April 2014). FIIs purchased shares worth a net Rs 20077.20 crore in March 2014.

FIIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 30638 crore in this calendar year so far (till 23 April 2014). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 113135.70 crore in 2013 calendar year.

There are a total of 1,708 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India
