FIIs step up selling

Net outflow of Rs 2136.30 crore on 20 June 2013

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth net Rs 2136.30 crore on Thursday, 20 June 2013, much higher than outflow of Rs 458.70 crore on Wednesday, 19 June 2013.

The net outflow of Rs 2136.30 crore on Thursday, 20 June 201, was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2255.40 crore and gross sales of Rs 4391.80 crore. There was a net outflow of Rs 2102.80 crore from the secondary equity markets on 20 June 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 2255.20 crore and gross sales of Rs 4357.90 crore. The S&P BSE Sensex had tumbled 526.41 points or 2.74% to settle at 18,719.29 on that day, its lowest closing level since 15 April 2013.

There was a net outflow of Rs 33.60 crore from the category 'primary market others' on Thursday, 20 June 2013, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.30 crore and gross sales of Rs 33.80 crore.

FIIs have sold shares worth Rs 5028.70 crore in June 2013 so far (till 20 June 2013). FIIs bought shares worth Rs 22168.60 crore in May 2013.

FIIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 78176.40 crore in 2013 so far (till 20 June 2013). FIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 128359.80 crore in calendar 2012.

There are a total of 1,761 foreign funds registered with the Securities & Exchange Board of India
