Finanicals stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Finance index decreasing 88.57 points or 1.45% at 5999.03 at 13:50 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Finance index, Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd (down 5.75%), 5Paisa Capital Ltd (down 4.97%),Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd (down 4.91%),Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (down 4.9%),Indiabulls Ventures Ltd (down 4.71%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Network 18 Media & Investments Ltd (down 3.73%), Yes Bank Ltd (down 3.7%), Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd (down 2.82%), Bank of India (down 2.81%), and GIC Housing Finance Ltd (down 2.8%).
On the other hand, IL&FS Investment Managers Ltd (up 6.84%), Max India Ltd (up 5.21%), and Capital Trust Ltd (up 4.98%) turned up.
At 13:50 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 277.46 or 0.74% at 37174.38.
The Nifty 50 index was down 70.85 points or 0.64% at 10975.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 85.1 points or 0.68% at 12423.36.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 20.32 points or 0.48% at 4202.51.
On BSE,750 shares were trading in green, 1515 were trading in red and 141 were unchanged.
