FPIs extend buying

Net inflow of Rs 1183.12 crore on 18 August 2014

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) bought shares worth net Rs 1183.12 crore on Monday, 18 August 2014, compared with net inflow of Rs 1266.54 crore on Wednesday, 13 August 2014. The stock market had remained closed on Friday, 15 August 2014, on account of Independence Day.

The net inflow of Rs 1183.12 crore on 18 August 2014 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7497.27 crore and gross sales of Rs 6314.15 crore. There was a net inflow of Rs 1182.47 crore into the secondary equity market on 18 August 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 7496.62 crore and gross sales of Rs 6314.15 crore. On that day, the S&P BSE Sensex garnered 287.73 points or 1.1% to settle at a record closing high at 26,390.96.

There was a net inflow of Rs 0.65 crore from the category 'primary market & others' on 18 August 2014, which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.65 crore and nil gross sales.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 2332.77 crore in August 2014 (till 18 August 2014). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 13123.86 crore in July 2014.

FPIs have bought shares worth a net Rs 75251.60 crore in this calendar year so far (till 18 August 2014). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 113136 crore in 2013 calendar year.
