Healthcare stocks edge higher

Healthcare stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Healthcare index increasing 107.15 points or 0.79% at 13686.25 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Healthcare index, Dishman Carbogen Amcis Ltd (up 3.14%), Indoco Remedies Ltd (up 2.6%),Albert David Ltd (up 2.59%),Neuland Laboratories Ltd (up 2.43%),Fortis Healthcare Ltd (up 2.35%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Nectar Lifescience Ltd (up 2.31%), FDC Ltd (up 2.27%), Alkem Laboratories Ltd (up 2.18%), Hikal Ltd (up 2.12%), and Hester Biosciences Ltd (up 2.09%).

On the other hand, Piramal Enterprises Ltd (down 1.11%), Granules India Ltd (down 0.78%), and Metropolis Healthcare Ltd (down 0.54%) turned lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 240.59 or 0.58% at 41840.31.

The Nifty 50 index was up 67.5 points or 0.55% at 12324.3.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 91.11 points or 0.64% at 14238.75.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 25.82 points or 0.53% at 4892.17.

On BSE,1148 shares were trading in green, 382 were trading in red and 79 were unchanged.
