India and Italy can work together to conduct high-quality research that can help improve the lives of citizens and contribute to 'ease of living'. This was stated by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India while addressing the Valedictory Session of the India - Italy Technology Summit which was organized by CII in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India in New Delhi today.

According to the Prime Minister, technology, tourism and history could come together when India and Italy join hands to leverage technology to preserve historical monuments. In addition, the two countries can work together in areas such as renewable energy, neurosciences, environmental protection and Information Technology among others

The Prime Minister stated that a CEOs' Forum was being formed between the two countries and a fast track mechanism was being put in place to promote two-way investments, and resolve issues, if any, confronted by the businesses in each other's country.

The Prime Minister also stated that the two countries were exploring the feasibility of collaborating in the fields of Life Style Accessories Design (LAD) with special focus on the leather sector, and Transportation & Automobile Design (TAD). He also stated that the two countries would be working towards setting up Indo-Italian Centres of Excellence in selected areas of mutual strength such as cultural heritage preservation, renewable energy, life sciences, and geohazards.

In his address, H E Prof Giuseppe Conte, Hon'ble Prime Minister of Italy stated that India and Italy were working together in areas such as energy, railways and healthcare. He was of the view that there were many new areas of cooperation which were opening up. These included sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, among others.

The Italian Prime Minister stated that Italy wanted to share the expertise that it has developed in areas such as conservation of heritage monuments in India. Another major focus area during this visit was cooperation in the design sector in India. Referring to the strengths of the two countries in science and technology, he noted that many projects were being conducted jointly by their scientists.
