Crude oil refinery output declines 1.6% in April-October 2019
India's crude oil refinery output rose 0.5% to 22.32 mt in October 2019 over October 2018. The output of public sector refineries fell 4.0% to 11.89 mt, while the output of private refineries also eased 0.1% to 8.77 mt. However, the refinery output of public-private JV refiners jumped 57.3% to 1.67 mt in October 2019.Among public refineries, the output of Mangalore Refineries dipped 9.4% to 1.21 mt, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation 8.0% to 1.33 mt and Numaligarh Refineries 7.0% to 0.24 mt in October 2019 over October 2018. Further, the output of Indian Oil Corporation also declined 6.5% to 5.82 mt, while that of Chennai Petroleum Corporation moved up 5.3% to 0.64 mt and Bharat Petroleum Corporation 5.4% to 2.65 mt in October 2019.
Among private refiners, the output of Reliance Petroleum declined 1.4% to 7.03 mt, while that of Essar Oil increased 5.8% to 1.74 mt in October 2019 over October 2018.
Among JV refineries, the output of Bharat Oman surged 2735.1% to 0.60 mt, while the output of HPCL Mittal rose 2.8% to 1.07 mt in October 2019.
The cumulative refinery output declined 1.6% to 148.08 mt in April-October 2019. The output of public refineries fell 4.8% to 78.81 mt, while that of private refineries rose 0.2% to 58.60 mt. The refinery output of JV refineries moved up 15.4% to 10.66 mt in April-October 2019.
Among public refineries, the output of Mangalore Refineries declined 17.5% , Hindustan Petroleum Corporation 9.1% , Numaligarh Refineries 4.2% and Indian Oil Corporation 3.3% , while that of Chennai Petroleum Corporation also fell 3.2% and Bharat Petroleum Corporation 0.5% .
The overall capacity utilization was lower at 103.5% in October 2019 compared with 104.1% in October 2018, while it was also down at 101.3% in April-October 2019 compared with 103.7% in April-October 2018.
