ITC, L&T, Axis Bank gain on buzz of stake-sale by govt

Shares of ITC, L&T and Axis Bank rose 0.31% to 1.58% at 10:46 IST on BSE on buzz that the government plans to raise around Rs 5000 crore this fiscal year by selling stakes in companies including ITC, L&T and Axis Bank.

L&T (up 1.58% at Rs 1,470.25), Axis Bank (up 1.58% at Rs 384.65), and ITC (up 0.31% at Rs 367.10) edged higher.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 295.09 points or 1.12% at 26,541.88.

According to reports, the Government of India (GoI) plans to raise around Rs 5000 crore this fiscal year by selling stakes in companies including ITC, L&T and Axis Bank. The sales could be made through an exchange traded fund that could be launched before the end of March, reports added.
