Nalco leads gainers in 'A' group

Punjab National Bank, Siemens, Jaiprakash Power Ventures and Berger Paints (India) are among the other gainers.

State-run aluminium maker National Aluminium Company (Nalco) spurted 5.75% to Rs 36.80. The stock topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group.

State-run Punjab National Bank galloped 4.57% to Rs 783.45. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group. The state-run bank during market hours today, 9 May 2013, reported 20.59% fall in net profit to Rs 1130.80 crore on 5.37% rise in total income to Rs 11552.84 crore in Q4 March 2013 over Q4 March 2012. The bank's net profit fell 2.8% to Rs 4747.67 crore on 13.35% rise in total income to Rs 46109.25 crore in the year ended March 2013 over the year ended March 2012.

Engineering company Siemens jumped 3.22% to Rs 574.55. The stock was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Power generation firm Jaiprakash Power Ventures climbed 3.08% to Rs 26.80. The stock was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

Paints and varnishes maker Berger Paints (India) rose 2.99% to Rs 220.70, extending gains for the 12th session in a row. The stock was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group.

The stock hit a record high of Rs 223.50 in intraday today, 9 May 2013. The stock has risen 18.78% in twelve consecutive sessions from a recent low of Rs 185.80 on 18 April 2013. The company will announce its year ended March 2013 results on 30 May 2013.
