India VIX rises 3.34% to 51.41.
The Nifty April 2020 futures closed at 9,028.20, a premium of 34.35 points compared with the spot closing at 8,993.85.Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 6.27 lakh crore compared with Rs 17.88 lakh crore reported in the previous session.
In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 118.05 points or 1.3% and closed at 8,993.85.
The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, gained 3.34% to 51.41.
On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 30 April 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 16.58 lakh at the 9,000 strike price. Maximum put OI of 25.05 lakh contracts was seen at 8,000 strike price.
Bajaj Finance, Reliance Industries and Bharti Airtel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Bajaj Finance April 2020 futures were at 2,302.95, compared with spot closing price of 2290. Reliance Industries April 2020 futures were at 1,199.25 compared with spot closing price of 1192.50. Bharti Airtel April 2020 futures were at 513, compared with spot closing price of 510.50.
The F&O contracts for April expire on 30 April 2020.
