Turnover jumps
Nifty January 2014 futures were at 6255.80, at a premium of 34.65 points over spot closing of 6221.15. Turnover on NSE's futures & options (F&O) segment surged to Rs 139091.31 crore from Rs 33665.04 crore on Wednesday, 1 January 2014.
State Bank of India January 2014 futures were at 1740, at a premium over spot closing of 1736.
Tata Steel January 2014 futures were at 420.70, at a premium over spot closing of 418.
Axis Bank January 2014 futures were at 1274.15, at a premium over spot closing of 1264.95.
In the spot market, the 50-unit CNX Nifty shed 80.50 points or 1.28% to settle at 6,221.15, its lowest closing level since 19 December 2013.
The January 2014 derivatives contracts expire on 30 January 2014.
