Turnover rises
Nifty May 2014 futures were at 6881.80, at a premium of 66.45 points over spot closing of 6815.35. Nifty April 2014 futures were at 6836.45, at a premium of 21.10 points over spot closing. Turnover on NSE's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 216362.92 crore from Rs 195231.61 crore on Monday, 21 April 2014.
Reliance Industries April 2014 futures were at 970.35, at a premium over spot closing of 966.95.
L&T April 2014 futures were at 1345, near spot closing of 1344.95.
HDFC Bank April 2014 futures were at 730.20, at a premium over spot closing of 728.70.
In the spot market, the 50-unit CNX Nifty lost 2.30 points or 0.03% to settle at 6,815.35, its lowest closing level since 17 April 2014.
The May 2014 derivatives contracts expire on 29 May 2014. The near-month April 2014 derivatives contracts expire tomorrow, 23 April 2014.
