Nifty November 2016 futures at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment surges

The October 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,702.15, at a small premium of 10.85 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8,691.30 in the cash market. The Nifty November 2016 futures traded at 8,746.35, a premium of 55.05 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment surged to Rs 4.62 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.76 lakh crore registered yesterday, 24 October 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index fell 17.65 points or 0.2% to settle at 8,691.30, its lowest closing level since 19 October 2016.

Arvind, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Arvind October 2016 futures traded at 403.80, at a discount compared with spot closing of 404.95. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone October 2016 futures traded at 311.50, at a premium over spot closing of 310.65. HDFC Bank October 2016 futures traded at 1247.70, near spot closing of 1247.55.

ICICI Bank October 2016 futures traded at 290.45, near spot closing of 290.30. Tata Steel October 2016 futures traded at 416.15, at a premium compared with spot closing of 414.75.

The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on on Thursday, 27 October 2016. The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016.
