Wheat sowing area shows improvement to 161.57 lakh hectares
As per Rabi Crops data released by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, total area coverage under Rabi crops stood at 360.94 lakh hectares as on 28 November 2014, against last year's sowing area of 378.92 lakh hectare.Wheat's sowing area has shown slight improvement and is at 161.57 lakh hectares as compared to last year's 159.11 lakh hectares.
The area under sowing of Gram is at 63.85 lakh hectare this year, while the last year's figure was 75.79 lakh hectares.
Area coverage under Total Pulses is at 95.93 lakh hectare while the last year's sowing area coverage was 107.06 lakh hectares.
Similarly sowing area under total oilseeds is at 65.07 lakh hectare as compared to 70.21 lakh hectare last year.
